FAIL

I can't make fudge. Two tries and I just can't do it.

:(

I can't play Chess. Too confusing for me.

:(

I can't paint portraits. I doodle.

:(

I can't french braid. No hair skills.

:(

I can't water ski. I've never gotten up.

:(

I can't play pool. Just call me Spaz Domino.

:(

I can't do math. Numbers confound me.

:(

I can't play a guitar.

:(

But he can. And I CAN listen.

Glad I got all that off my chest. I feel surprisingly better.

*This pity party brought to you by two batches of candy soup... aka bad fudge.

Aw come on- you can make fudge. Are you trying that 'no fail' version using the marshmallow fluff? That is the best! I guess I am to late for the Christmas card thing :( That is why I should come by more often- huh? :( :(

Ok, here's the best darn fudge and fail proof. Heat together 1 can condensed milk, 1 1/2 bags chocolate chips, dash of salt. Melt it all thru, take off heat and add 1 1/2 tea. vanilla & a cup of nuts if you want. Spread in tin-foiled lined pan. Cool in fridge. Then break into pieces.

There ya go...some unsolicited advise!
Brenda :)

I could do a pros and cons list but that would deflect from your need to party..so I'll just say it's ok and move on. Sides I CAN'T tell you there's more to life the fudge..there's not..especially Christmas time fudge! Keep trying! In the name of all things chocalate!

I havent ever made fudge, but I can't make bread. I have tried to make bread like 20 times with nothing but fail fail fail.

Hey Jen, according to my son there is no such thing as "failed" fudge. He would sometimes beg me not to cook it long enough so that it would become like taffy! The only reason he knew that in the first place was because of my many failed attempts!! :) The secret to good fudge is many, many, many years of practice!! lol

Love ya,
Hope

I can't make fudge either. I just decided it wasn't worth ruining good chocolate to make soup so I let others make the fudge and I grab some of theirs!

You may not be able to make fudge but you do have a knack for making me smile and giggle :}

Lets start a I failed at fudge support group!
Hubby refuses to let me try anymore, after the mess i made last year LOL

You can do it. Just use the cheat version on the marshmallow cream jar. And if it still doesn't go well, then say pppppppppfffffffffftttttttttt and don't worry about it!

Shoot. Trigger finger is too quick. Return commenting... FAIL.

Where was I?

BRENDA - And the sun peeks out from behind my fudge-defeat black cloud. Could it be a recipe that I could actually NOT fail at? I have tried to make fudge in previous years. Always... FAIL. I am bound and stinkin determined to make fudge ALL BY MYSELF. Hubby said to just face it, I am no longer the cook. He would pull a recipe off of the internet and make some for me. Well shoot. He is right but. It. Is. Just. Fudge. I NEED to do this!

DAWN - Viva La Chocolate Fudgy Goodness. Just wait. There will surely be a victory post. Eventually.

Plus, my mom said she would show me how to make it this weekend when we see her.

JOCELYN - Thank you for sharing. We can just fail together. There are things that I AM really good at. But I can't think of anything but fudge right now. I can't make good cornbread either. That is quite shameful for a southern woman.

HOPE - I have a couple of years of failure under my apron so maybe I'll be due for fudge success soon.

And seriously, my mom makes the best peanut butter fudge ever and she is about to show me how so there's hope Hope :)

JEANETTE - Well I am certainly proud of that success! I can live with making it but now I am mad about the whole thing. Back to the store tomorrow to buy the stuff for a THIRD batch.

CUPCAKE - We will be the charter members. I am comforted by those of you that have admitted you can't too. Can you french braid?

TRAVIS - I may need to practice pppppppfffffhhhhhhtt. The family has much less confidence in me than you do. But then again they have tasted my fudge :(

MIKE - sometimes just the 'knowing' is a good thing. The fact that you know so much about the Dulcimer, even though you are unable to play like you used to, helps you to appreciate the music more. You have a more discerning ear. We all get to a point where we are unable to do what we once were able to. Take care of yourself Mike. I'm glad to hear from you.

jennifer said...

TAMMY - you do have a good point. Of course the tootsie roll consistency of the fudge may not gee haw with the graham cracker. LOL - Tammy, it was really bad!

LEIGH - now THAT was just one of the nicest things to say. And no one ever loved me for my fudge and they aren't going to stop loving me for it either... unless they lose a filling from eating it.

#6 was my favorite on your list - so glad you feel that way. Nick - uhmmm was my second favorite ;)

jennifer said...

Oh! And Beck can definitely play. I have listened to that OVER and OVER and OVER tonight. It is just SO good.

Valarie Lea said...

Now why did you have to go and do that disclaimer?? I had my comment all ready and then you went and did a disclaimer!

The only thing I can do that you can't do is braid hair. Otherwise I am right there with you.

I think my Aunts scared me from making fudge. They used to tell me horror stories about a girl in a dorm room trying to make fudge and then the fudge hardend in the pan and then she got a knife to cut it out and the knife slipped and she stabbed herself in the leg and then there was no one around to help her and she died right there in the dorm room from making fudge. So I have NEVER attempted it in my entire life. The End :)

Did you notice I pretty much told that whole story in one long continuous sentence?

jennifer said...

VALARIE - ha! Like your runon sentence in your post. That made me laugh.

OK, my story about a dorm room was a girl way back when at the University of Montevallo was cooking in her dorm on a hot plate of some sort and burned to death from it. Occasionally people in Main Hall claim to see her ghost. Our sorority hall was in Main and I hated to go in there because I was afraid I would see her too. The end.

And I hope you weren't a little girl when they were telling you the fudge knife stabbing death story. That could warp a chick from chocolate.

Valarie Lea said...

Funny you should mention a) the ghost story, because I thought of it and your time at Montevallo while I was remembering that story, and b) Yes they did tell me that as a child and putting two and two together, I wonder if this is the reason my sister claims she is allergic to chocolate?

jennifer said...

VALARIE - I think together, we have diagnosed her 'allergy' to chocolate as cutafudgeaphobia - the fear of stabbing death by chocolate. We could probably hypnotize her and cure her of it... and also make her bawk like a chicken everytime someone says "Hershey". THAT would actually be kind of fun.

Art said...

I CAN make fudge AND play chess (though poorly) and I (as you probably know) I play guitar.

The rest, nah...

But I am so impressed that you even know who Jeff beck is! Not exactly a household name - but one of the most important figures in the last half century of popular music. I lurves me some beckology!

Hey, I feel a music post (gasp) coming on...

jennifer said...

SELF - Oh Uh Uh! Seriously? I have impressed ART with my music knowledge????

I feel special!

And jealous.

ART - You have skills Dude! I envy you!

jennifer said...

Oh! And I can play some pretty good songs on Guitar Hero. The BEST video game ever created. I like to be Xavier!

Dullbert said...

I read Japanese the scroll at the bottom is Jeff Beck's fudge recipe.

jennifer said...

DULLBERT - :D

Your comment made me laugh BIG! Can't begin to tell you how glad I am that you are back.

Now, could you please share that recipe? I am sure his Fudge ROCKS.

doodlebugmom said...

(I am here by way of Art)

So what if you can't make fudge, it is probably great as an ice cream topping!

TJ said...

You are hilarious! There are so many things you can do, don't worry about the can'ts!

Art said...

LOL @ Dullbert... I just had to comment to make you an even 30.

Well Behaved Krissy said...

I'm with you on the fudge and the numbers. A hard math problem often hears me screaming.... OHHHHH FUUUUUUUUDGE.

jennifer said...

DOODLEBUG MOM - Thanks for visiting! It wouldn't be so bad if I weren't craving really good fudge! :)

TJ - hard to think of anything but fudge right now - I am still craving it and haven't gotten my fix.

ART - Dullbert has that effect on me too. And thanks for the even 30... that I have now turned in to and odd 31.

jennifer said...

KRISSY - Make that an even 32 LOL! And Oh Fuuuuuuuuuuu-djah!

Love it!
