STAYING PUT...

I may come up with a more interesting post tomorrow (or not) but right now, I am travel weary and not up to the task.

Each road trip seems to be very much the same except for maybe....

...the weather.

Diva Daughter either reads (currently White by Ted Dekker) or listens to her Ipod.

The Boy either reads (Calvin and Hobbes), plays with his Nintendo DS, or torments his sisters.

Oldest Daughter talks or sleeps (she got her turn in the front seat when we stopped for a potty break).

I enjoyed the sunroof in our 'new' Accord, listened to CDs, and drove.

(the car was not moving in this shot - pinkie promise)

*Bryan was not along for the ride this time but he usually drives or critiques my driving (I give him plenty to work with).

The kids and I spent the night with my folks Saturday night. We got up early Sunday morning to head home to Bryan. My parents walked us to the car and we had prayer before we left... it was a precious moment. My Dad anointed the car with oil and The Boy seemed fascinated with the small, cross-shaped spot on the windshield. When it was his sister's turn in the front seat he asked her "Do you see the cross?" They are accustomed to prayer but using the anointing oil was a bit new for them.

We will not make the long haul up I-65 again until the 4th of July holiday. Although I look forward to spending time with family, I will enjoy 'staying put' for a little while.

It will be just A-OK for you to stay put until July 4th!!! Rest because we all have a BIG day ahead of us.

Love you, Tiz

You made a simple road trip into a really fun post!!! I feel envy for your kids that can read in the car without sickness - - - I did NOT inherit that particular gene.

I totally want to go on a road trip and stuff my face with junk food!

I have never heard of anointing a car with oil. Just hearing that put my entire state of being into a odd sense of peace. Odd because I'd never really felt that before, but lovely.

TIZ - I REALLY am looking forward to the 4th! One of my favorite family traditions serious for real!

KEETHA - Sometimes I can read in the car, sometimes I just can't. Sort of weird. All of my kids can though - got it from their Dad.

MRS. M - We have been back so much here lately the car can almost drive itself.

KP - Go with us! Priesters has yummy face stuffing stuff.

KIRBY - I have heard of people doing it but that was a first for me too. My father is.... wow. Saying he loves the things of God is an understatement. What was surprising was that it was my mother's idea. They just NEED for us to be safe when we travel and they take that need to God in prayer. If you could see prayer cover as we travel the road the car would look like it was wrapped in layers and layers and layers of bubble wrap!

Neat post! I can't tell what color your car is, but you said you and Darren had twin cars! What year is yours? It looks much newer than his!

I think that is a wonderful thing to anoint your car. How sweet of your mom and dad. And a great example for your children. I love it.

Oh, and by the way... you have the most beautiful blue eyes!!

I can't remember what we did on road trips before ipods, cell phones and portable dvd players! I know we played the ABC game a lot! LOL!

MIKE - Aw! I'll be right over.

SARGE - Excellent post Sarge. I am so glad that you had a good Father's Day and that Chuck gifted you in such a personal way.

DAWN - CHOPPED! On a whim I went in a 'walk-in' type place and got a bunch cut off. I haven't had a haircut since October of last year.

NICK - Now THAT is the type of comment that I needed. I take so much for granted. I am thankful to be able to go up and down I-65 time (after time after time after time...) :) It's all about perspective.

JUST BREATHE - Amen.

JC - I can't wait to get a hug from you!

HAFFNEWIE - It is a very dark gray. I am enjoying my zippy little car and I feel like I am driving a monster truck when I climb in the Tahoe! My dad anointing the Accord was a first. It made a memory and opened the door for a wonderful discussion with my kiddos.

SONDRA - or the license plate game :)

Oh, and I would have given you the award that is on my blog tomorrow, but Leigh beat me to it and I didn't figure you wanted to do it twice! BUT I LOVE YOU ALL THE SAME! I said so on there too!;)

HAMMER - I love Calvin and Hobbes too. I'll have to look into Fox trot.

BAMA BELLE - Y'all have been in my prayers. I just can't imagine how you have felt. But God is GOOD! I'm thankful Joe is home.

And thank you for your sweet words. Love you back lady!
