POSITIVE DAY will be July 31, 2009

I have stared at the blank page for about five minutes, just thinking. I want to do this right - which is a lot of pressure for a chick like me.

*Wow, I sat for five more minutes after that opening paragraph.

Well, here goes....

My little Diva Daughter read a review in the Wall Street Journal about the latest Harry Potter movie. It was not positive and she was disappointed. She gave a lengthy monologue about the negative things she had read. I walked her over to the computer, clicked New Post on my blog, and told her to "have at it". She looked one part shocked, and one part happy to voice her opinion (you can find that post HERE).

When she was verbally sharing her opinion, she told me when she becomes president in 2032, she will instate Positive Day. She claimed it will be a day for people to think about the things they are thankful for and to share the things that make them happy. She also wrote about Positive Day in her post.

This is part of the comment Travis left for Diva Daughter:

"Now as to Positive Day, why wait? Pick a day and let us know what it is. We can make a blog badge and have Positive Day in the Bloggosphere!"

When she read it, her eyes lit up and she giggled - I could tell that she REALLY liked the idea of Positive Day being celebrated in the Bloggosphere. In her words "Oh yeah! Let's do it!"

And Positive Day was born from the mind of a twelve year old girl.

On July 31, 2009, I would be humbled and blessed if you would participate in the day envisioned by Diva Daughter. It would be an opportunity to show that young people do indeed have a voice and that they can make a difference.

If you feel so inclined, grab the badge and post it on your sidebar, linking back to this post (see? Lots of pressure). Then on July 31, share the things in your life that are positive. Count your blessings. Tell us why you are thankful. CHOOSE to "accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative."

Hopefully I will manage to master the Linky and will have a place for you to link your Positive Day post.

Finally, I want to thank Travis for creating the badge for Positive Day and for being the first commentor to urge her to carry her idea forward now (instead of waiting for her presidency).

I hope to see you on July 31st. Be blessed Y'all!

HEY, wonderful idea. I'm at work now but as soon as I post again I'll do it. However, my glass is more than half full, it running over. I go for my initial meeting with the Orthodontist group this afternoon. Say a prayer that I like the person I'm assigned. BTW, I'm so proud of Diva D. Did she ever get her birthday card from me. Love ya, Aunt JC

That's a fantastic idea. We need more positivity in our world today. Tell D.D. that I for one am very proud of her. Thanks!

I posted the badge & will definitely try to participate, even though the date conflicts with Sys Admin Appreciation Day. ;)

Brilliant initiative, Diva Daughter. Found out about it through Barb, and am so glad I did. Thanks for making me pick myself up, dust myself off, and think POSITIVE for more than the few seconds I am currently allotting myself. Good luck for your pending presidency- I wish I was a US citizen, 'cause I'd definitely vote for you!

Rita said...

Hello Jennifer!

Thank you for visiting my blog. I had linked my post to yours, but since I was in a hurry, I had time to do it only in Finnish.

My readers come to your blog by clicking on the words "12-vuotias Diva", which means 12-year-old Diva.

Here's a word of Finnish to you; KIITOS, meaning thank you, pronounced roughly like "keetos" :)

Have a positive weekend! - Rita -
