Weekend Visitors

My brother brought his wife and son down to visit us this weekend. They arrived bright and early Friday morning (it was much easier to drive in the wee hours of the morning while their toddler was sleeping). We spent our first day visiting the Mobile Exploreum.

And of course, I have pics.

This was his favorite exhibit. At the touch of a button, you can experience the noises that the human body makes. Josh pushed the button and....

... EEWWW!!!

This button was quite informative as I have never actually heard one of these...

*ahem*

He was so sweet playing in "the sea of balls". It is the largest ball pit that I've ever seen!

And of course this was my favorite part of the day. He was so sweet when he konked out in my lap.

Once we were back home, The Boy built a blanket fort on top of our (fancy-pants) dining room table.

*One day, I will get to live in the same house as my dining room furniture*

The table may be plastic but it served its purpose - look at that grin.

Uh oh - it looks like they are making plans...

One toddler fort wrecking crew...

I took him outside and managed to get him to sleep for his late afternoon nap. My nephew can fight sleep like the Muhammad Ali of sleep fighters so I started singing the "lullaby" that I sang to The Boy when he was a baby. The Boy would always settle down and quit crying when I would sing it and I was amazed that my nephew did the same thing. I believe this shows that I have THE WORST singing voice in the history of bad singing voices (Rosie O'Donnell is vindicated). I shock those to whom I sing into a stunned silence.

This is the lullaby that I sing to my young victims, inserting their names and the names of family members into the song (no offense to Safron or 14) and completely omitting the electrical banana part.

Once he was asleep, I hit the recliner and he and I took a long nap.

We are having a nice weekend here in South Alabama. I hope that you, wherever you are, can say that your weekend is nice too. Be blessed Y'all!

He looks like a real sweetie! We are heading out for our final softball tourney tomorrow and it will serve as our vacation too. It looks to be a gorgeous week for softball!

P.S. I can't believe the word "fart" is on that machine. LOL

What a cute post! Don't you just love it when they fall asleep in your arms?
Hey... we had that same dinning room table for years and years!! It is now replaced with a "dumpster save"! ahem. We cleaned it up. :-)
Oh, and I love your new design! I need someone to teach me how to that. It looks so fun!

What a cutie! I think Aunt Jennifer is quite smitten, too.

Thanks for keeping tabs this week and praying for Brennan and the rest of the team as they completed their mission in B'ham. He's home now... exhausted but so "filled." He talked continuously for about 2 hours!

Be blessed, girl!

I always could quiet my middle son down by singing "hush little baby". It always, always, always worked with him. The other three kids? Not so much. They just weren't as cooperative. lol

That nephew is adorable. The Boy's pretty cute, too! :)

What a cutie, Jennifer!
That would be a fun museum to go to. They had a similar display down in Phoenix but we couldn't go before it ended. Question: Was the fart a loud, obnoxious one or one of the silent, deadly ones? Just wondering! ;)

MIKE - Having my nephew there made it fun!

SUE - my clock has stopped - PRAISE GOD! I'm too old to mother a toddler.

JEANETTE - I am looking forward to reading about your exchange student!

JUST BREATHE - it holds precious memories!

JC - The Boy was tickled about that :)

JILLIAN - She is growing so fast. It's fun to watch them experience new things.

TIZ - Thanks for the prayer covering.

DEBBIE - He loves the remote too :)

LIZ - Thank you - I like it better than the old one. I started feeling the urge to collect cats.

HAFFNEWIE - I love 'found' items!

DAWN - Thank you for sharing his adventure on your blog. I'm proud of him!

CINDY - *giggles* does that mean "oops"?

KARI - Funny how they are all different. Singing to my nephew took me back.

SPEEDCAT - I have had some technical difficulties with my blog. Should have never gone dot com. Thanks for letting me know!

BRENDA - since I am si clueless about farts *grins* I can only guess that it was obnoxious but blessedly odor free!

CALI GIRL - I don't get to see him very often so the time I get seems so special!

Fun outing! I think my kids would push the "fart" button 1,001 times, probably breaking it then roll on the floor in giggles. Wish our local kids museum had one of those!!

Fun times and memories!
I LOVEd blanket forts! Great rainy day memories. And not so rainy day....
Also, that is a FABULOUS shot in the balls! Oh, let me reword before Dullbert gets ahold of that one.....Fabulous photography of your nephew in the sea of blue balls. Ok, thats the best I could do. But GREAT! You need to enter that into some contest. Beautiful! Great composition and colors are amazing, as is his expression!
Finally, and sadly enough, my ridiculous husband, Big Daddy, would've spent exactly 53.8 minutes at the fat button, pressing it over and over and over. Some things I guess men just dont grow out of, Sadly for Big Daddy its his obsession with bodily functions. Yes. This is my life. Now you see ahy I think your life with dust bunnies sounds so high faluting? I am living with fart faced fannnies.
Enough said.
Love to my sista!

TERRESA - My nephew started immitating the sounds... not sure if he was trying to do the fart or the burp though :)

SONDRA - it is amazing how memory can be linked to sensation. Holding him made me think of my kiddos when they were little. It was bittersweet.

MUTHERING - Thank you! I hope you are feeling great.

CHARLES - I would take my son for drives in the car to get him to sleep too. It was highly effective for him.

RONNICA - it was a great weekend but I am TIRED. I don't think I could ever mother a toddler again.

LEIGH - I wonder if I will get any interesting Google searches on "Sea of Blue Balls?" Actually, I don't think that many people are interested in that.

And yeah, now that you mention it, where is Dullbert on this post? :D

Love you back Leigh!
