I think Bryan would like to mail a postcard to PostSecret that says. "It drives me nuts when you send cupcakes to work with me to share. Baby, I'm 39 years old, not 9." My response would be, "It drives me nuts to be in a house with leftover cupcakes. Throw the darn things out the window for all I care. Just don't make me pitch them in the garbage after I baked them."
It's not like I'm trying to undermine his authority with dessert, right?

Hey Jude written in code?
Oldest Daughter works on songs that she likes and writes the notes on notebook paper. She really sounds awesome when she plays Hey Jude. She figured out the notes for the Harry Potter theme song, and then converted it to her sister's 'key signature' (??? I think that means she worked the song out twice).
I have promised to find her some more music books and sheet music but the time that she spends working it out for herself seems like a good thing. It gives me hope - with her level of Band Nerdiness, I think she'll stay out of trouble.

My son gets excited about receiving pens for his birthday.
I am giving him a matching pocket protector soon.

Diva Daughter went with us to Andalusia for the All State Band tryouts. She was returning the support that Oldest Daughter had given her (at least, this was the way it was in my mind). As Oldest Daughter became more and more nervous, she began to be snappish with her sister. I pulled the Diva aside and told her to have compassion on her nervous sister and not to take it personally.
Oh but no.
Diva Daughter does not have "Everlast" written across her chest

and she was NOT taking any crap from her sister. Start with nerves, add some indignation, and a dash of hormones.... presto! SISTERS.
To her credit, Oldest Daughter apologized (without being told to do so) for her behavior. Diva Daughter was stubborn for a minute but eventually they hugged and made up.
NEITHER of them apologized to me for having to endure their drama.

I went back to bed this morning for about an hour and I am STILL tired. I think the sink full of dishes and couch covered in laundry are bringing me down.
*SIGH*

I would like to say that co-workers love leftover cupcakes! Our office goes crazy whenever we get leftover cake or pie or cookies brought in.
Get some rest mommy!
Well Jen, all I can say is that your family sounds normal to me. Sisters will be sisters, but deep down you know they care about and love each other. And at 9 years of age, any present is awesome. Now go back to bed again and relax.
I'm glad The Boy had a great birthday. How fun.
As for the girls and their drama. Wait until they have kids of their own and try to convince you how tough it is. That's when you go...Bwahahahahahahaha. Never fails to happen. Never. They'll appreciate you then.
Have a terrific day. I'm off to tackle the dishes in my sink and folk all that laundry. Seems we are on the same page today. :)
Stand up straight & tall, give the dishes & laundry your "mean" look, and bust out into a chorus of ELO's hit "Don't Bring Me Down" (Groooosss)... it totally works - in theory.
My sister and I are 10 months apart, and oh the fights we had!
My oldest 2 are 18 months apart... oh do they fight and then mix in #3 just 3 years younger... they really needed to go back to school today.
Hugs, Jennifer... enjoy some quiet rest...
So happy that he had a wonderful birthday. I get excited about pens too! Really, I like to collect unusual ones.
People at our work love it when food is brought in. You'd think they'd never been fed.
Sensational Haiku Wednesday
Looks like The Boy had a great day. Love when you give us glimpses into Dust Bunny Hostage Central. HA!!!
I'm not proud...I'll take a leftover cupCAKE.
But I might not share them. **blush**
Learning how to write music, play from what you written and reading music is all wonderful. I'm sure it uses different parts of the brain. :) It must!
I love that you send cupcakes with your husband. What a hoot!
My sisters were once banned from sitting on the couch together. Banned! LOL I think it lasted a whole week. That was an eternity for those two movie watching, couch laying, blanket sharing kids. They use to sit on either ends of the couch with their legs in the middle - then the blanket could be used by both. Well at some point one of them started kicking the other and being all dramatic about broken bones and bruised eyebrows or something and so they were banned from the couch. Neither one could sit on it. I still laugh. It was a fun week to be an older sister!!
