Swine Flu is still flying...

I wrote HERE and HERE about Swine Flu landing at our house. It liked us so much that it has returned.

The Boy was the perfect patient at the doctor's office. After a nasal swab, a finger prick, and a chest X-ray, the diagnosis was Swine Flu.

He may have balked when the nurse said she had to prick his finger but that chick was quick. She had The Boy pricked and was milking his finger before he could add a "Hoo" to the "Boo." Not that The Boy would cry. I mean DUDE, he's NINE.... he would never whine about shots or needles, right?

Riiiiiiiight.

Seriously though, he may have looked scared for a second but the nurse was fast. When The Boy realized it didn't hurt, he became Joe Cool. I just know the cute blond nurse thought he was beast.

*I may have spent too much time with a nine year old boy.... who is flippin' awesome Dude!

The nurse asked me if we had gotten the flu vaccine. When I answered no, she said "Don't feel bad. It doesn't seem to be making much difference. We've had people diagnosed who took the vaccine and some who didn't." Uh huh. We all know that "Don't feel bad" is code for "You bloomin' idiot. It serves you right that you have a sick kid. You SO could have prevented this."

What can I say at this point except "Hello Tamiflu, good bye cash H1N1." Please say a prayer that The Boy is over the worst of it and that everyone in our family doesn't get sick (since none of us took the vaccine).

Also, I spoke with my Grandpa on the phone. Although he has to stay in the hospital another night, he sounded much better. My mom said he looks 100% better than he did yesterday. Praise God! I appreciate all that have prayed! Hopefully tomorrow, he will get to go home.

I just want to let you know, that both are in my prayers and for the family not to get the flu. We have mask left from when the boys had it. Just in case. Hang in there Jen, it will be over soon.

I'm glad your grandfather is doing better.

Well as for the swine flu we didn't take the vaccine either. Hubby and I just didn't like all the side affects so we opted out.

I'm glad The Boy is over the worst of it and I'm praying that the rest of you don't get it.

Have a terrific day. :)

According to the doctors that I spoke with my niece had swine flu and I was taking care of her - if you don't get it within three days, you're not gonna get it. If your child has the same strain of the oinker as your daughter, then you're immune.

I am praying that you are immune :) I am praying that you and your family FLY right through it, too! Sounds like you do have one awesome dude :)

Being ill is the WORST! I hope and pray that he will recover VERY quickly and that it does not touch anyone else in the family! You are in our prayers!

I agree with that nurse - - - DON'T feel bad that you didn't get the vaccine.

Hubs thinks what WE had was swine flu (diagnosing people in the ER is what he does for a living) He had TWO flu vaccines this fall - - - the swine AND the regular one. When we got sick a couple of weeks ago - - - he was MUCH SICKER than I was, and I was NOT vaccinated at all.

Fortunately for ALL of us, even though quite a few people have GOTTEN the H1N1 virus, most people have been far less sick with it than anticipated.

My ops team at work all got flu shots. They were free at work, and our boss insisted that we get them.

We split 50/50...half of us never had so much as a sniffle, and the other half were struck with varying degrees of flu.

Nobody had a clinical diagnosis of H1N1.

I am so sorry about your Granddad and the boy. If it will make you feel any better we did not take the H1N1 shot either.
Love you,
Tiz

Oh, ugh! I feel your pain! Both my kids got it. My recommendation is to learn to love the Clorox wipes and Lysol. If hand sanitizer isn't flowing through your veins yet, invite it to do so. Stay healthy!

Sounds like you have really been having a run of the flu at your house. I hope The Boy is feeling better.
I'm glad to hear Grandpa is feeling better too.

He's a little trooper. Reminds me of me at that age. A tad scared inside but ya never want to show it because you're all cool and stuff. LOL I hope everyone starts feeling better.

I swear to you little boys get everything under the sun it seems!
The day I took my two to get the vaccine my little boy (also 9) was tested pos. w/ the flu. Noone else in the house got it though. A round of prayers for your family on the house :o)

And glad to hear your Grandpa is doing so much better. He will remain in my prayers.

So glad to hear your grandfather is doing better. I know it is hard to worry about him and nurse a sick child. Saying a prayer that the rest of your family remains well. Rest when you can.

So glad your grandpa is better and you get to hang out with Joe Cool! Of course I hope Joe Cool feels better fast and keeps his germs to himself. We did not vaccinate for swine flu this year either but honestly this brutal winter has not left us alone long enough to feel well enough to be vaccinated. :/

Oh no! Too many difficulties all at once. Lots of love to you all. You seem to be on my prayer list a lot at the moment. Stay with it y'all - special hugs for the awesome dude (and who wouldn't love and hug even if they are full of oinking germs) xxxxx

We haven't been vaccinated and had no plans to either - and as far as I can tell most nurses here have opted out too! so DON'T FEEL BAD - I mean it !!!

So glad Grandpa is doing better. So sad about the BOY but I know he will not be down long. One of my staff member's 2 year old has Scarlet Fever. I haven't heard of that in ages. Praise GOD for good antibotics and insurance/money. It takes both, doesn't it.

Ali and I had it last week, and no we didn't get the vaccine either. At least you're in the company of other bloomin' idiots! I hope he's better soon, and that Tamiflu keeps the rest of you from getting it!!!

Poor thing!!

We didn't vaccinate either...

Oh no! Sorry to hear the flu has returned...but so glad everyone is pretty much okay! We did not get the vaccine either...our dr did not push it which made us wonder what he knew that we didn't!

Glad your Grandfather is doing better, too.

So glad that your Grandpa is on the mend! I hope the flu packs his things soon and leaves your house for good. (Hasn't he figured out yet that he's not welcome?...SHEESH!)
